Permanent Residence

Blanket Concession of Permanent Residents Outside of South Africa

All holders of permanent residence permits for South Africa who either need to activate their permits by entering the country within 12 months from the date of issuing, or who need to return to South Africa within 3 years to keep their permits from lapsing, have received a blanket concession due to the travel restrictions resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.

As per Ministerial exemption issued in March 2021, these persons may enter or return to South Africa at any time until 31 December 2021 without negative implications for their permit status.

Further extensions may follow, depending on the status of the pandemic. Please contact our team with any questions you may have.
