Newsletter – Dec 2020

Dear Clients, Partners and Friends,

Many of us will be relieved to see 2020 come to a close, but hopefully your reflections on this year in the coming weeks will also bring up some insights and learnings that are cause for hope and joy. For some of us, priorities have shifted as we were reminded of what really matters to us – be it family, our physical and mental health, social justice or the earth. Solidarity and good South African humour have carried us through the hardest moments of this year, and more of both will be needed in the time to come.

Its varied and deep-seated challenges and limitations aside, South Africa’s government has shown largely wise and well thought-through leadership during the pandemic. The opening of South Africa’s borders for all travellers, the economy slowly getting back in motion, and Covid-19 vaccines being approved and rolled, are welcome positive signals. On the visa and immigration front, the biggest news over the last months have been the ever-changing travel restrictions. In this spirit and with only a portion of functions open, this short newsletter gives you the latest on travel rules, exemptions and concessions, as well as visa, permit and citizenship processes locally and abroad.

We look forward to connecting with you again in 2021 and helping you and those around you secure the required documents for your stay and activities in South Africa.

Wishing you a restful and peaceful festive season and smooth entry into 2021.

Be well and safe,
Julia Willand
