The 10-year multiple-entry visitor’s visa for business people from Brics (Brazil, Russia, India and China) countries is slowly starting to be issued by missions in those countries.

A similar visa is to be made available to business persons and academics from Africa, and this decision of January 2016 is to be implemented within about a year. According to reports, frequent visitors from India also qualify for a three-year multiple-entry visa. Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba further announced that Russian tourists (as opposed to business people) would soon be exempt from visa requirements (similar to nationals of most European countries, the UK and the US), and the same is being considered for Indian and Chinese nationals. In future, non visa-exempt visitors with valid visas for the US, Europe or the UK may be exempt from obtaining port-of-entry visas and allowed to obtain visitor’s visas on arrival – this request by cabinet is still being considered.
