Section 11(2) Procedure Changed with Immediate Effect
The Department of Home Affairs has changed the application procedure for so-called "section 11(2) permits" or "short-term authorisations to work" in that applications for these types of permits (which were previously made via email or fax to the Department's Head Office in Pretoria) are now to be made to the relevant missions in the countries of origin or residence. The changes were implemented with immediate effect. The main requirements will remain the same, but different procedures and processing times, and even additional requirements, are likely to be applied by the various missions. Delays are to be expected – please contact your client manager for details and to align your permitting strategy if needed.
