Namibianern wird in Zukunft eine längere Besucherzeit für die Dauer von 90 Tagen in Südafrika gestattet. Nach 90 Tagen muss eine getrennte Verlängerung des Besuchervisums beantragt werden.

Windhoek — The South African government has extended the visiting period of Namibians to South Africa from 30 to 90 days.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, Salome Kambala, said in a statement that South Africa had agreed to reciprocate the visa exemption of 90 days per calendar year for Namibian holders of ordinary passports, as requested by the Namibian government.

She said the request was made at the 10th session of the South Africa/Namibia Joint Permanent Commission of Defence and Security in September 2010.

According to Kambala, the new visa exemption is applicable with immediate effect.

Once exceeding the required 90 days, a visitor has to apply for an extension visa.
